The, Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF), states that the project purpose is to construct a new lay-up dock for the Ketchikan Airport ferry system. Work being proposed regarding the new dock facility consists of placing a 250-foot long x 85-foot wide floating steel or concrete dock, placement of two four-pile side restraint dolphins (driving four 36-inch piles and four 30-inch piles), placement of three four-pile side and mid restraint dolphins   (16 36-inch piles), construct a new 20-foot x 140-foot steel transfer bridge, construct a new concrete/pile supported bridge abutment (three 18-inch piles), removal and replacement of the existing rock slope.  The proposed abutment and work on the rock slope would require discharge of approximately 1,600 cubic yards of fill material into 0.15-acre of marine waters.  All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-11), dated June 2019. The project site is located within Section 14 & 23, T. 75 S., R. 90 E., Copper River Meridian; USGS Quad Map Ketchikan B-6; Latitude 55.3589º N., Longitude -131.7026º W.; in Ketchikan, Alaska.
