Carl Uchytil, City and Borough of Juneau, stated the purpose is to provide critically important improvements to serve the transportation and safety needs of the seafood and maritime industries of Juneau. The proposed drive-down float will allow vehicles to directly access the vessels utilizing Aurora Harbor, facilitating a more streamlined transfer of goods and supplies year-round. Adding two electric cranes to the drive-down float will also increase capacity and improve safety of cargo loading. Lucas Goddard, Baranof Island Housing Authority, stated the purpose is to develop a residential subdivision in Sitka, Alaska to increase the supply of buildable housing lots in response to documented local housing shortages. The project will provide residential lots, internal access roads, and utility infrastructure necessary to support housing development within the City and Borough of Sitka. PROPOSED WORK The applicant is proposing to construct a 47 lot subdivision by constructing roads and utility infrastructure and a laydown yard to facilitate the construction. PROPOSED WORK: The applicant is proposing to dredge 400 cubic yards of natural sand and gravel from 0.15 acres of tidal waters under and around the existing dock. The dredged material would be placed into 0.15 acres of tidal waters adjacent and along the upper regions of the existing shoreline. The work would be conducted from an excavator on the tidelands during low tidal stages when the site is almost entirely dewatered. Additionally, the applicant states that existing sheet pile bulkheads at the transfer area are showing signs of deterioration therefore, adding fill would buttress the sheet pile bulkheads, reduce their risk of failure, and eliminate the need to extract the deteriorating sheet piles. PROPOSED WORK: The applicant proposes to discharge approximately 8,716 cubic yards of fill material into 0.45-acre below the high tide line (HTL) of the Tongass Narrows in two (2) locations in order to provide space to improve the staging area used for cargo operations and improve operational safety. PROPOSED WORK: The applicant proposes to discharge approximately 1,500 cubic yards of fill material into 0.6 acres of wetlands and 0.7 acres of waters below the ordinary high water (OHW), to extend the municipal water supply line approximately 3.5 miles. The waterline extension would consist of approximately 18,000 linear feet of 10-inch line and 2,250 linear feet of 6-inch line, installed at a minimum of 5 feet below existing grade using trenching and boring techniques. Levi Frampton, Doyon Oil Field Services, stated the purpose of this notice is to advise the public that the following request associated with the Doyon Tract 8 has been submitted for a Department of the Army (DA) permit under the provisions of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, as amended. PROPOSED WORK: The proposed project includes installation of a typical North Slope gravel pad on approximately 6.9 acres of Alaska State Land Survey (ASLS) 76-227 Plat 77-3 Tract 8. This parcel is an undeveloped portion of an existing lease which would allow space for support operations for Doyon on their North Slope leases. Approximately 77,900 cubic yards of gravel would be placed to construct a pad 5-7 feet deep. Two access lanes from the Spine Road would also be constructed. These access lanes would be constructed to a minimum depth of five feet with dimensions of 36 feet by approximately 60 feet each and would include culverts to maintain existing drainage. Each lane would require approximately 575 cy of gravel fill for a total of 1,150 cy. Alaska Energy Metals Corporation, stated the purpose is provide safe, reliable, and logistically sustainable access to a mineral exploration area for a Critical mineral to collect subsurface geological data to evaluate the mineral resource potential. PROPOSED WORK: The project would begin with rehabilitation of an existing 17-mile gravel road known as the Rainy Creek Mining Road. In addition to the rehabilitation of the existing road, the project would involve the construction of 6 miles of new temporary gravel access road, averaging 13 feet wide toe-to-toe, to access the exploration site from the west end of the Rainy Creek Mining Road. To maintain hydrologic connectivity, low water crossings would be installed at surface water crossings. The new road would disturb approximately 0.14 acres of wetland. Gravel would be sourced from uplands. Drilling must commence where the Nickel resource is located. The mineral exploration requires construction of temporary facilities, including a 15-acre pad for a man camp, staging and parking areas, and seasonal equipment laydown. PROPOSED WORK: The applicant proposes to extract and stockpile up to 66,600 cubic yards of gravel within about 185 acres of exposed river gravel bars over 5 years. The gravel would be extracted at shallow depths above ground water, using excavators and dump trucks. Material would be temporarily stockpiled onsite and transported by dump truck to the Denali Park stockpiling area near the park residential facilities west of the project. Reclamation of the area would be by natural riverine flooding and deposition processes. The project is expected to begin in summer 2026 through 2031, with biannual excavation of about 22,200 cubic yards of material, with each gravel extraction impacting an area of about 10 acres.
