USACE announces publication of 2026 nationwide permits

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today the publication of the 2026 nationwide permits in the Federal Register. The 56 reissued and one new nationwide permit in the final action are necessary for work in streams, wetlands and other waters of the United States under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899.

USACE announces finalization of nationwide permits

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that it will reissue 56 existing nationwide permits and issue one new permit for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. One existing permit will not be reissued.

USACE seeks scoping comments on Mendenhall Valley technical report

USACE is inviting the public to submit their comments to the agency to help define the scope of analysis or array of alternatives to be considered during the development of this report. Currently, there are five conceptual flood-control alternatives to be evaluated: flood-control dam(s); levees or floodwalls; bypass channels; Suicide Basin lake tap; and infrastructure relocation.

Army Executes POTUS Directive on Ambler Road Project

Trump has approved the appeal of the Alaska Industrial Development and Export Authority (AIDEA), directing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to promptly issue authorizations necessary for the establishment of the Ambler Road Project. This project will provide road transportation access to the Ambler Mining District. The Corps of Engineers will promptly act to reinstate all necessary permits under their jurisdiction. This project will make possible the development of several operations that could provide many of the critical minerals that the nation needs to compete during the 21st Century. “Every day, President Trump is delivering on his promise to advance an energy dominance agenda for the American people,” said Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works Adam Telle. “The President’s directives to advance this critical project in Alaska are yet another example of his unwavering commitment to empowering American competitiveness and economic freedom in support of America’s national interest, and I look forward to moving out swiftly.” Since January 20, 2025, the Army Corps of Engineers has issued more than 900 permits for energy-related projects in support of President Trump’s energy dominance agenda and associated executive orders.

USACE begins construction effort for Kenai Bluffs project

USACE awards contract for Utqiagvik coastal erosion project

Brice Civil Constructors Inc. of Anchorage, Alaska, will begin constructing a portion of the structure in Utqiagvik aimed at reducing erosion and the risk of storm damage to about five miles of coastline. This first effort will construct a revetment in front of the downtown area. Future work for the entire project consists of more rock revetments, a protective berm as well as raising and armoring Stevenson Street.
