Corps seeking public comments on proposed dredging at Iliuliuk Bay

Published May 30, 2018

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is preparing a Draft Interim Feasibility Report for the Unalaska Channels, also known as Dutch Harbor.

The proposed project and preliminary analysis of potential environmental impacts are described in the draft report, which is being submitted to elicit public review and comment on the Corps’ tentatively selected plan to dredge a bar at the entrance to Iliuliuk Bay that prevents deeper draft vessels from safely passing and accessing the Port of Dutch Harbor.

The report will be available for 30 days until June 29. It may be viewed on the Alaska District’s website at: http://www.poa.usace.army.mil/Library/Reports-and-Studies/. On that webpage, look under “Documents Available for Public Review” and expand the Civil Works link.

Comments may be submitted to the address below or via email to: George.a.kalli@usace.army.mil.
