Peter Nagel, Alyeska Pipeline Service Company; stated the purpose is to advise the public that the following request associated with the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) Material Mining for Contingency Stockpiling, has been submitted for a Department of the Army (DA) permit under the provisions of Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, and Section 404 of the Clean Water Act. PROPOSED WORK: The applicant proposes to discharge approximately 150,000 cubic yards of alluvial gravel in up to 126 acres below the ordinary high water mark of the Sagavanirktok River in order to mine gravel from a gravel bar. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-8), dated May 19, 2026. Extracted gravel would be hauled for long-term stockpiling on a nearby, existing gravel pad adjacent to the Trans Alaska Pipeline.
