Col. Jeff Palazzini assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District on June 30, 2023, at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. In this role, he leads an organization responsible for executing major programs focused on military construction, civil works development and environmental cleanup within the state. He also oversees the delivery of contracting, regulatory, interagency, international, real estate and emergency management services, along with operations and maintenance activities. Palazzini was commissioned as an Army engineer officer in 1999. He holds a bachelor-of-science degree in economics from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, as well as an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business in Philadelphia, and master-of-arts degree in strategic security studies from the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.

John M. Raso became the deputy district engineer for Program Management and chief of the Programs and Project Management Division for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Alaska District in January 2026. In this position he provides oversight of the district's various programs and activities throughout the state and is responsible for ensuring efficient and timely delivery of military, civil works, environmental, and other agency construction projects with an average annual value in excess of $800 million.
