Interview at Fort Wainwright Child Development Center
Katy Doetsch, senior project engineer at the Alaska District's Child Development Center project at Fort Wainwright, provided an update on the site's construction during an interview with the Fort Wainwright Public Affairs Office in August. The new "birth-to-kindergarten" childcare facility will accommodate 338 children ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years old. According to Doetsch, the Child Development Center has special importance in her own life. "I specifically requested this project because it has a significant impact on Fort Wainwright and the greater community," she said. "During the last two summers, I had to work from home because of a lack of available childcare for my three children. It is personally very important to me that this project is finished on time and with the highest quality possible."
