On March 30, a handover ceremony for the Quang Nam Disaster Management Coordination Center was conducted signifying the turnover of the facility to the people of Vietnam. Representing the U.S. was Consul General Rena Bitter of the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi and Maj. Gen. Kevin Pottinger, mobilization assistant to the commander, U.S. Pacific Air Forces. The completion of the facility will serve the residents of the Quang Ngai Province in linking neighboring provinces that are most severely affected by natural disasters. Managed by the Alaska District, the construction started June 4, 2014, and was completed on March 8, 2015.
