Army engineers teach 125 students about STEM in Alaska
Andrew Romero, geotechnical engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District, demonstrates how gravel, sand and silt hold water back differently for a group of students during a STEM event on Aug. 5 at the Chena River Lakes Flood Control Project near North Pole, Alaska. The demonstration showed students how geotechnical engineers build earthen dams like the nearby Moose Creek Dam.
