Army engineers teach 125 students about STEM in Alaska
Students watch Lauren Oliver, hydraulics and hydrology engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District, demonstrate a tipping bucket rainwater gauge on Aug. 5 at the Chena River Lakes Flood Control Project near North Pole, Alaska. Oliver explained how rainfall impacts water levels in the Chena River and may lead to operation of the dam to protect downtown Fairbanks from flooding.
