Army engineers upgrade heating system at remote air base in Alaska
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District retrofitted a building that houses the National Park Service headquarters for Katmai National Park and Preserve with new boilers in 2021 at King Salmon Air Force Station in Alaska. The installation of this modern equipment will allow the 611th Civil Engineer Squadron to eventually decommission the antiquated central steam plant that has been used by the installation since the Cold War.
