Army engineers dredge the Port of Alaska
Rachel Napolitan, public affairs specialist, takes a photo while touring the dredge contracted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Alaska District in the Port of Alaska. The Operations Branch performs annual maintenance dredging to remove underwater sediment and shoaled materials built up at the port to ensure vital navigation channels remain open and the port is accessible to shipping traffic at all times.
