The Port of Nome Modification Project will provide larger vessels with improved access to Nome's existing harbor by enlarging the outer basin and creating a new deep-water basin at a depth of 40 feet. The Alaska District signed the project partnership agreement with the city of Nome on Jan. 11, 2024, and conducted a ceremonial signing on Jan. 25.
