Corps seeking public comments on proposed project at Moose Creek Dam

JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District prepared an environmental assessment report for the proposed modifications to Moose Creek Dam.

The Alaska District would construct a partial barrier wall in the dam embankment at the Chena River Lakes Flood Control Project near North Pole, Alaska. Two gravel sources and an area for the placement of overburden and development material will be developed as well. The proposed project, alternatives and potential environmental impacts are described in the environmental assessment.

The report will be available for public review and comment for 30 days until Oct.19. It may be viewed on the Alaska District’s website at: On that webpage, look under “Documents Available for Public Review” and expand the Civil Works link.
