Colonel Christopher D. Lestochi assumes command of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District

Col. Christopher D. Lestochi assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District, today in a change of command ceremony on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Col. Reinhard W. Koenig, the outgoing Alaska District Commander, relinquished command in a ceremony at District headquarters. Brig. Gen. Richard L. Stevens, commander of the Pacific Ocean Division, the Alaska District’s next higher headquarters located in Honolulu, served as the ceremony’s presiding officer.
Col. Koenig’s next assignment is executive officer to the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works in Washington, D.C.

The Alaska District has a multi-million dollar program providing engineering, construction, planning, contracting, real estate, emergency operations, environmental and regulatory services to the military, to federal, state, and local governments, and to the public in Alaska. Under the International and Interagency Support Environmental program, the district executes humanitarian assistance in many Southeast Asian countries. Under the Foreign Military Sales program, the district provides project management responsibilities, including master planning, requirements validation and design and construction for the Government of India at Hindan Air Force Station.

Col. Lestochi comes to the Alaska District from the Army War College in Carlisle, Pa. He served as Deputy Chief of the Construction Division for the Alaska District from 1998 to 2001.

Col. Lestochi was commissioned in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1989 from Pennsylvania State University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Penn State, as well as Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
