JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District is available to answer Regulatory program permitting questions year-round at the Matanuska-Susitna Borough’s one-stop permit center.

The permit center is located upstairs in the Dorothy Swanda Jones Building, 350 E. Dahlia Ave., Palmer.

Regulatory staff is on-site from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Thursday throughout the year. Appointments outside of those times can be scheduled based on staff availability.

To arrange a meeting with the Corps at the Mat-Su Borough’s office, call 907-753-2712, prior to Thursday’s office hours. The Corps increased its public availability to improve the quality of service provided to the local community.

Under the Regulatory program, the Corps is responsible for permitting fill projects located in waters of the U.S., including wetlands, as well as permitting projects involving structures or work in navigable waters.

The Corps is committed to maintaining and restoring the nation’s aquatic resources, while allowing reasonable development through fair, flexible and balanced permit decisions.

Residents planning a project that may require a permit to discharge fill into waters of the U.S., including wetlands, are encouraged to consult with a designated official to discuss permitting needs, the permit process and/or drop off an application.

All correspondence may be mailed to: USACE, Regulatory Division, P.O. Box 6898, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK 99506; emailed to regpagemaster@usace.army.mil; or dropped off with a Regulatory specialist during office hours.
