ADOT&PF's stated purpose is to provide a road link between the two portions of the community of Aleknegik, which is separated by Wood River. The need for the project includes enhancement of public safety, improved access to health care, schools and local services; enhancement of the local economy and increased community cohesion. Place 9,000 cubic yards of fill into 0.8 acres of wetlands in order to reconstruct 1.7 miles of existing roadway, including widening the existing road. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-6), dated July 2015.
