Matanuska-Susitna Borough's stated purpose is to "provide flood hazard and erosion protection for the 100-year storm event for the MSB-owned and maintained Yoder Road." The project site is located within Sections 11 & 14, T. 24 N., R. 04 W., Seward Meridian; USGS Quad Map Talkeetna A-6; Latitude 62.1783º N., Longitude 149.9556º W.; follow the Parks Highway to MP 98.5. Turn right onto the Talkeetna Spur Road. Travel north for approximately 3 miles and turn right onto Yoder Road. Travel east on Yoder Road, the proposed project site is located approximately 2.6 miles down the road where Yoder Road crosses over Montana Creek at the Yoder Road Bridge, near Talkeetna, Alaska. The applicant has proposed extending an existing dike up to 550 linear feet which would impact up to 0.72-acre of jurisdictional waters. A 700-foot, 0.48-acre, dike is currently in place and was constructed in 2012 due to flooding. The impact area of the proposed project would total 1.2-acres. Temporary impacts as a result of construction activities would total 0.91-acre. The total impact would be 2.11-acre. .
