Ms. Audrey Hudson's (City of Metlakatla) stated purpose is to provide access for the community of Metlakatla to a shorter boat trip to and from Ketchikan that is safer than the longer passage down Nicholas Passage. The project site is located within Section 22, T. 74 S., R. 91 E., Copper River Meridian; USGS Quad Map Ketchikan B-5; Latitude 55.2678º N., Longitude 131.5602º W.; Northwest tip of Annette Island, approximately 6 air miles southeast of Ketchikan, Alaska. The proposed project would install a boat ramp, dock/boat ramp float, and road/turn around. Total fill for the proposed project would include up to 80 cubic yards of concrete and 4,800 cubic yards of shot rock. Additionally, five 12-inch HDG and four 16-inch - HDG steel piles would be driven for the dock/boat ramp float.
