Mr. Dale Rahn (Providence Health and Service) stated thepurpose is to provide a secured building to house Alaska CARES and supporting agencies, and safely provide services for victims of child sexual and physical abuse. The Alaska CARES center provides response and support services associated with the investigation and evaluation of child sexual and physical abuse with a multi-disciplinary team of law enforcement, child-protection professionals, prosecutors, mental and medical health professionals, and victim advocates.
The project site is located within Section 31, T. 13 N., R. 3 W., Seward Meridian; Latitude 61.1771º N., Longitude 149.8827º W.; Tax Parcel ID: 009-212-70-000, southeast corner of 48th Avenue and A Street, in Anchorage, Alaska.
The proposed work involves filling 2.39 acres of wetlands with 11,000 cubic yards of clean structural fill to construct a building and parking lot for Alaska CARES, a children’s advocacy center providing response and support services associated with the investigation and evaluation of child sexual and physical abuse. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-3), dated July 11, 2017.
