Brice Conklin stated that the purpose is to develop a gravel mine site. The project site is located within Section 2, T. 11 S., R. 22 W., Kateel Meridian; USGS Quad Map Solomon C-3; Latitude 64.56208º N., Longitude 163.0137º W.; north of Golovin, Alaska. The applicant proposes to perform Mechanized land clearing of 1.01 acres for the development of a 210’ x 210’ gravel mine site in order to mine 15,000 cubic yards (cy) of Crushed Aggregate Surface Course (CASC) material and the placement of approximately 85 cy of fill material into 0.017 acre for the construction of a 30’ x 25’ access road, with a total impact to 1.03 acres of wetlands. Overburden and materials not meeting CASC specifications would be stockpiled in the Existing Landfill Pit #1 as shown on sheet 2 of 5. Work is proposed to start May 15, 2018 with mining being completed by June 1, 2018. Ground disturbance would be completed by May 19, 2018, to conform to the bird window of May 20 – July 20. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-5), dated March 5, 2018.
