Kate Dodson, with ConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc., states the project purpose is to provide barge access to the Oliktok Dock and to allow for continued water flow of seawater to ConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc.‘s saltwater treatment plant facility in order to provide water to the Kuparuk and Alpine oil fields.  Work being proposed includes:  Annual screeding 2.5 acres in the Beaufort Sea at Oliktok Point to provide safe access to and stability at the dock for vessels.  Annual dredging 3.6 acres in the Beaufort Sea at Oliktok point to allow for continued seawater flow at the Seawater Treatment Plant (STP) intake bays to provide water for water flood purposes and continued oil and gas production in North Slope oil fields.  Annual removal of up to 10,000 cubic yards of material in front of the intake bays at STP and deposit some of the material in upland areas above the high tide line along the Oliktok causeway and Oliktok point.  Some sediments removed from the intake bay would remain on the seafloor.
