City of McGrath, states the project purpose is to excavate sand and gravel of the near shore side of the sandbar on Sand Island.  Work being purposed will see the annual excavation of up to 10,000 cubic yards (CY) of sand and gravel of the near shore side of an accretion sandbar which occurs on Sand Island.  This sand and gravel bar are replenished each year by the Kuskokwim River during the high-water events.  All excavation activities will take place during low water flows of the Kuskokwim River; and the area is dry, as the water level of the river will be below the elevation of the work area.  All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-3), dated October 10, 2020. The project site is located within Section 18, T. 33 N., R. 33 W., Seward Meridian; USGS Quad Map McGrath D-6; Latitude 62.943262º N., Longitude 155.612524º W.; and is located at the southern end of Sand Island, near McGrath, Alaska.
