Turnagain Marine Construction states the purpose is to construct a new cruise ship berthing facility to alleviate pressure on the existing cruise ship dock. The project would involve in-water construction, including the installation of piles, to support a 500-foot by 70-foot floating dock, pile-supported mooring dolphins, 100-foot by 3.5-foot catwalk, 115-foot by 3.5-foot catwalk, pile supported float restraint dolphins, 154-foot by 15-foot transfer span, 262-foot by 44-foot pile supported mooring trestle, and a 552-foot by 24-foot pile supported approach trestle. The project site is located within Township 8N, Range 4E, Sections 14, 15, and 22, Seward Meridian; USGS Quadrangle Seward D-5 SW; latitude 60.784° N and longitude 148.716° W; approximately 1.2 kilometers northwest of the existing Port of Whittier deep water dock in Whittier, Alaska.
