The City and Borough of Sitka stated the purpose is to construct a vessel haul-out facility with a capacity to haul-out a majority of the vessels within the Sitka Fleet for repair and refurbishment. The project site is located within Section 3, T. 56 S., R. 64 E., Copper River Meridian; USGS Quad Map Sitka A-4; Latitude 57.0478º N., Longitude 135.2289º W.; within the Gary Paxton Industrial Park (GPIP), in Sawmill Cove, near Sitka, Alaska. PROPOSED WORK The proposed project consists of the construction of 150-ton capacity vessel haulout piers, a queueing float, a vessel haulout ramp, and an uplands shipyard area with vessel storage, vehicle parking and a vessel washdown pad, below the Hight Tide Line (approximate elevation +12.8 feet above the 0.0 foot contour) and the Mean High Water Mark (approximate elevation +9.2 feet above the 0.0 foot contour). Work also includes water, storm water, wastewater, and electrical improvements. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-12), dated January, 2024.
