Paul & Company's stated purpose is to remove frozen overburden and mine the pay gravel below. The applicant proposes to mine 8.6 acres of palustrine forested wetlands on a north-facing slope, south of Fairbanks Creek. Total discharge of fill at any one time would be 115,000 cubic yards (cy) including: 100,000 cy overburden and 15,000 cy pay material. Mining cuts would be 500’ x 150’. First cut overburden would be stockpiled in previously disturbed areas within valley. For each new cut the overburden would be placed in the previous cut. All processing of material would take place in the previously disturbed claims in the valley.
