City of Juneau stated purpose is to allow for all tide moorage and improved access and navigability. To dredge 2,600 cubic yards of native material from a 15,322 square foot area below the mean high water mark (MHWM, 15.4’) of Gastineau Channel to -22 feet mean lower low water (MLLW), box cut with ½:1 side slopes to minimize overall dredge quantities in navigable waters of the United States. Dredging would be conducted with a clam shell bucket or conventional hydraulic excavator from an anchored barge. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-4), dated February 2014. The contract documents mandate that the contractor provide a non-wetland, non-jurisdictional uplands dredge disposal site. Primary dewatering would be onsite within the harbor basin prior to hauling to the site in a water tight haul truck. Construction activities would occur between September 2014 and May 2015.
