  • POA-2012-769, Near Island Channel

    Expiration date: 11/25/2013

    The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities' stated purpose is to increase the longevity of the facility and to improve the efficiency and safety for the transfer of passengers and vehicles by the Alaska Marine Highway System M/V Tustumena. The existing timber dock is approximately 50 years old and is nearing the end of its intended service life. The existing 12,150 square foot timber dock would be replaced completely, and expanded to 19,000 square feet. The new dock would consist of 88, 24-inch diameter steel piles, a concrete deck, 10 new 18-inch diameter fender pin piles, and the fuel and water systems would be upgraded. Existing creosote treated timber piles would be removed. An impact or vibratory hammer would be used to install piles into pre-drilled holes in bedrock. In addition, up to 250 cubic yards of fill material would be placed within up to 0.1-acre below the High Tide Line of Near Island Channel in order to protect the shoreline from further erosion.     Expiration date: 11/25/2013

    ASRC Energy Services, Incorporated's stated purpose is to construct a gravel pad capable of accommodating a new North Slope Operation Facility. Discharge 416,520 cubic yards of gravel fill material into 47.31 acres of emergent and shrub-shrub wetlands which will provide a stable base for the expansion and relocation of the applicant’s nearby existing business.   • POA-2013-402, Goldstream Creek

    Expiration date: 11/26/2013

    The Fox Lions Club’s stated purpose is to develop a community park for year-round recreation. The applicant proposes to mechanically clear and level 2.7 acres of wetlands for the project. The project would consist of a cut and fill balance of the area to create level land for the construction of multi-purpose fields, ice rink, pavilion area, picnic area, parking area, and other infrastructure. Once cleared, the level area would be seeded with commercially available grasses. Fill would be placed in uplands for the development of a parking area and extension of the access road.     The City of Kotzebue's stated purpose is to construct a recreational area. Place 50,000 cubic yards of excavated material from the Kotzebue Airport Obstruction Removal project onto 3.4 acres located on Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act 14(c) Lot 29 for the purpose of creating a recreational area and a 70 by 70 foot access driveway.
