Mr. Robert Griggs (Creative Development, Inc.) stated the purpose is to provide single family residential housing within the City and Borough of Juneau.
The project site is located within Section 27, T. 41 S., R. 67 E., Copper River Meridian; USGS Quad Map Juneau B-2; Latitude 58.28660º N., Longitude -134.43038º W.; on Douglas Island in Juneau, Alaska.
The applicant is proposing to develop a 10.5 acre parcel into Merritt Subdivision consisting of 13 lots and houses. The work would include the excavation and grading of 13 lots, road, and driveways as well as the placement of fill material to construct the house pads, road, and driveways. Overall the work would result in the placement of fill into 2.78 acres of wetlands consisting of 0.53 acres of palustrine scrub shrub wetlands, 0.31 acres of palustrine emergent wetlands, and 1.94 acres of palustrine forested wetlands. Additionally the project would result in the rerouting of 1,881 linear feet of streams, the loss of 183 linear feet of perennial streams, and the installation of 6 culverts into 250 linear feet of streams. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-10), dated July, 2017.
