The lateral extent and scope of work will remain the same as currently authorized under POA-1980-454-M4. The lateral extent of permitted impacts will not change from the existing permit, i.e. the mine boundaries and footprint will stay the same at 349 acres. The intent of the proposed modification to the existing permit is to, 1) extend the permit expiration date to May 31, 2020 2) Extract an additional 5.5 million cubic yards of gravel by excavating an additional -30 feet  within the existing permitted mine footprint, 3) modify the existing Mining and Rehabilitation plan. The purpose of the work is to provide for continued gravel extraction at the existing PUT 23 mine in support of the oil and gas industry on the North Slope.
