    Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities' stated purpose for modification of their existing permit is to construct a barge access channel and landing for the Kotzebue Airport and Runway Safety Area Improvements Project, right at the project site, instead of using the existing barge landing at the north end of town. This would reduce by 90% the number of trucks hauling material the 1½ miles through town, estimated at 13,000 loads over the 2-year life of the project.     Savant Alaska LLC's stated purpose is to continue maintenance dredging of Badami Dock approach area. Proposed work: A 600’ x 300’ area of Mikkelsen Bay, a water of the U. S., would be dredged using screeding techniques to scrape the seafloor and level it to a consistent depth of -6.5 feet to provide shallow draft barges access to Badami Dock.   • POA-2013-157, Revillagigedo Channel

    Expiration date: 7/10/2013

    Mr. Ralph Beardsworth's stated purpose is to construct a personal residence. Proposed work: Discharge up to 688 cubic yards (CY) of fill material into 0.0924-acre of waters of the U.S. below the High Tide Line (19.4’; HTL) of Revillagigedo Channel. A 2025-square foot fill pad would be installed for the construction of a home (“Site 1” on project plans) with 317 CY placed below HTL. Another 2000-square foot fill pad would be installed for the construction of a garage (“Site 2” on project plans) with 370 CY placed below HTL. The subject lot has an anadromous stream that runs through it, and the fill pads would be constructed on either side of the stream. Please contact Roberta K.   • POA-1991-243-M2, Goldstream Creek

    Mr. Fritz Kuykendall's stated purpose is to provide affordable residential homes and home sites. The applicant proposes to add eight residential lots with access roads; improve the existing subdivision road and expand the residential pad footprint of seven existing cabin rental lots in a subdivision that was originally authorized by DA permit POA-1991-243, Goldstream Creek on June 24, 2002. The proposed permit modification would occur in two phases as follows: Phase I – Proposed Phase I development would discharge 1185 cubic yards of clean fill material into 0.6 acres of wetlands with the following proposed actions: 1) develop one lot and improve seven existing lots; 2) straighten and widen existing access road, (Golden Valley Drive), with a top width of 20 feet to comply with Borough subdivision standards; 3) construct a cul de sac turnaround at end of access road. Phase II - Proposed Phase II development would discharge 3388 cubic yards of fill into 2.0 acres of wetlands with the following proposed actions: 1) widen existing access road 3.5 feet at the beginning of Golden Valley road, (subdivision access road), to upgrade road for more users as required by the Borough for a larger subdivision; 2) remove temporary Phase I cul de sac and extend Golden Valley access road to access new subdivision lots; 3) develop driveways, house pads, and septic for seven new lots.
