    City of Coffman Cove's stated purpose is to complete construction of Clarence Straits Drive, a partially existing subdivision road, in order to provide access to lots 8-11. Proposed work is to discharge 1,210 cubic yards of shot rock, into 9,631 square feet (0.22 acre) of wetlands, to construct 814 linear feet of Clarence Straits Drive. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan, 3 sheets, dated October 2014.   • POA-2014-028, Kuskokwim River

    Interested parties are hereby notified that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District (Corps) is soliciting comments on a prospectus submitted by the Calista Corporation (the Sponsor) to develop an umbrella mitigation bank. The prospectus describes the Sponsor’s proposal to establish three preservation-based wetland mitigation bank sites totaling an area of approximately 23,000 acres to service a portion of the Kuskokwim River Watershed in Southwest Alaska. A copy of the Kuskokwim River Mitigation Bank Prospectus may be downloaded from our website at http://www.poa.usace.army.mil/Missions/Regulatory/PublicNotices.aspx, or you can arrange to view a hard copy form by contacting the Corps’ Fairbanks Office. Section 404 of the Clean Water Act establishes a permit requirement, administered by the Corps, for projects that involve discharging dredged or fill material into waters of the United States. The Corps requires compensatory mitigation as a permit condition for stream, wetlands, or other Waters of the U.S. losses that are determined to have greater than minimal effects. The goal of compensatory mitigation is to replace the physical, chemical, and biological functions of these waters of the U.S.

  • POA-2014-436, Zimovia Strait

    Mr. George Woodbury's stated purpose is to construct a private residence. Mr. George Woodbury requests authorization to discharge 920-cubic yards of shot rock below the High Tide Line of Zimovia Strait to construct a private residence. The project would result in the placement of fill into 0.06-acre (80-foot by 30-foot) of waters of the United States. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-3), dated 10/30/2014.   • POA-2014-423, Chilkat River

    Expiration date: 12/3/2014

    Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) stated purpose is to move naturally occurring slide material from the Takshanuk Mountains into the Chilkat River, adjacent to the HH. The ADOT&PF is proposing to discharge up to 26,800 cubic yards of slide material (comprised of rocks/boulders, mud, silts) in 1.7 acres below the ordinary high water mark (OHWM) of the Chilkat River, annually, for a period of five years, totaling 134,000 cubic yards in 8.5 acres. Material would be stacked 15 feet high. The proposed work also includes placing up to 13,200 cubic yards of material above the OHWM of the Chilkat River, annually, for a period of five years, totaling 66,000 cubic yards. Please note, material placed above the OHWM is outside the limits of our jurisdiction, but has been included in this public notice for your information.
