Permit Application Public Notices

Public involvement is a key element of the Corps’ permit review process. During an application review, the USACE, Regulatory Division considers the views of other federal, state and local agencies, Native American tribes, interest groups, and the general public. The results of this careful public interest review are fair and equitable decisions that allow reasonable use of private property, infrastructure development, and growth of the economy, while offsetting the authorized impacts to the waters of the United States. This is accomplished through the posting of a Public Notice on the USACE, Regulatory Division's website and soliciting comments.

The USACE, Regulatory Division publishes monthly a list of individual permits issued, denied, or pending during the previous month. The list will identify each action by public notice number, name of applicant, and brief description of activity involved. It will also note the relevant environmental documents and the Statements of Findings (SOF) or Records of Decision (ROD) that are available upon written request through the FOIA process and, where applicable, upon the payment of administrative fees.

Construct a temporary barge landing by placing 250 cubic yards of shot rock, obtained from Pit 2 in Unalakleet, into Norton Sound to construct a temporary barge landing. • POA-2012-876, Tina Lake

    Expiration date: 4/12/2013

Arcticorp Incorporated's stated purpose is to construct a new snow disposal site. The site would also be used for temporary storage of equipment and materials when space is available during the snow-free season. A potential future use of the project site is a public roadway. The footprint of the proposed project overlaps with the footprint of the West Dowling Road Connection Project sponsored by the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOTPF). Planning documents indicate the West Dowling Road project would involve filling the north part of Tina Lake and associated wetlands. At this time the ADOTPF does not own or control the planned roadway across Tina Lake or any property within the footprint of the proposed snow disposal site project. The applicant proposes to discharge approximately 14,100 cubic yards (cy) of clean fill into 1.27 acres of wetlands and 1.62 acres of Tina Lake to extend the property gravel pad and provide additional snow disposal capacity. Please contact Steve Lindamood at (907) 753-2796, toll free from within Alaska at (800) 478-2712, by fax at (907) 753-5567, or by email at Steve.D.Lindamood@usace.army.mil if further information is desired concerning this notice.

  • POA-2012-180, Norton Sound

    Expiration date: 4/11/2013

The City of Nome proposes to add additional dock moorage and a Roll on/Roll off (RORO) ramp for loading and off-loading activities. The RORO would have an accessible ramp at elevations of +6.5 feet and would be designed to carry wheeled cargo on and off the vessel on their own wheels. The dock would be located between the West Gold Dock and the City Dock at the Port of Nome's Outer Harbor. It would be designed to add container storage close to the RORO ramp and to allow berthing of the large barges without significantly encroaching into the navigational channel. The project would also require the excavation of 13,800 cubic yards of armor and sandy/gravelly material from approximately 1.14 acres of intertidal and subtidal waters.
