    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District will announce its intent to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) for review of the Pebble Limited Partnership’s (PLP) application to discharge fill material into waters of the United States for the purpose of developing a copper-molybdenum-gold mine project in the Bristol Bay region of Alaska next week.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District published the Operational Draft Regional Guidebook for the Rapid Assessment of Wetlands in the North Slope Region of Alaska. It now is available for use by all permit applicants proposing projects within the Arctic Foothills and Arctic Coastal Plain region.
  • Alaska Corps employee receives highest honor for construction personnel

    Joel Spano, lead quality assurance representative in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Alaska District’s Alaska Area Office, received the 2017 Chief of Engineers Hard Hat of the Year Award Aug.1 during a national ceremony in Washington, D.C. The honor was presented by Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite, U.S. Army Chief of Engineers and commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Command Sgt. Maj. Bradley Houston. Award nominees are open to all Corps personnel working in the field on construction projects worldwide.
