Permit Application Public Notices

Public involvement is a key element of the Corps’ permit review process. During an application review, the USACE, Regulatory Division considers the views of other federal, state and local agencies, Native American tribes, interest groups, and the general public. The results of this careful public interest review are fair and equitable decisions that allow reasonable use of private property, infrastructure development, and growth of the economy, while offsetting the authorized impacts to the waters of the United States. This is accomplished through the posting of a Public Notice on the USACE, Regulatory Division's website and soliciting comments.

The USACE, Regulatory Division publishes monthly a list of individual permits issued, denied, or pending during the previous month. The list will identify each action by public notice number, name of applicant, and brief description of activity involved. It will also note the relevant environmental documents and the Statements of Findings (SOF) or Records of Decision (ROD) that are available upon written request through the FOIA process and, where applicable, upon the payment of administrative fees.

Special Public Notices

These are public notices that involve the Regulatory program but which are generally not limited to one particular project. These would include public notices for the establishment or modification of Restricted Areas/Danger Zones, issuance/re-issuance of General Permits (Regional General Permits or Nationwide Permits), changes to guidance and policies, etc.

  • POA-2013-399, Ugnuravik River

    Expiration date: 9/9/2013

    BP Exploration(Alaska) Inc's stated purpose is to expand the gravel pad at J Pad in the Milne Point Unit in order to accommodate drill rig access and movement, as the rigs used for existing well head work are larger than the ones used when the pad was constructed. The project site is located within Section 28, T. 13 N., R. 10 E., Umiat Meridian; USGS Quad Map Beechey Point B-5; Latitude 70.4511º N., Longitude 149.5787º W.; near Deadhorse, Alaska. Proposed work is to expand the existing J Pad in the Milne Point Unit by placing 9,500 cubic yards of clean gravel fill on 0.90 acres of tundra. Tundra travel will not be necessary, as the gravel would be placed while the equipment is working from the existing pad. Gravel will be obtained from previously permitted sources. .   • POA-2013-443, Eagle River_PN

    Expiration date: 9/5/2013

    Mr. Jerry Harman's stated purpose is to bring the existing road up to the Municipality of Anchorage standards for a new subdivision. Applicant proposes to place 4,735 cubic yards of Type II gravel on 0.72 acre of palustrine wetlands to widen an existing road to a uniform width of 66 feet.   • POA-1982-370-M10, Sagavanirktok River

    Expiration date: 8/30/2013

    Schlumberger Oilfield Services' stated purpose is to create additional space to accommodate project expansion and growth of Schlumberger’s North Slope operations. The applicant proposes a discharge of 93,150 cubic yards (cy) of gravel fill material at Tract 44C in Deadhorse, at a depth of approximately 5 feet, with a footprint area of 13.2 acres on seasonally flooded, saturated, persistent, palustrine emergent wetlands. The proposed project would be adjacent to existing fill pads on tracts 31, 32, 33 and 44C. The proposed project would be a multi-year expansion broken into two phases; phase one discharge would be up to 47,600 cy of new gravel with a footprint area of 6.2 acres on the northeast section of Tract 44C (adjacent to Tracts 32 and 42). The proposed phase two discharge would be up to 45,605 cy of new gravel with a footprint area of 7.1 acres in the northwest section of Tract 44C (adjacent to Tracts 31 and 45A-2).   • POA-2009-1156, Snake River

    Expiration date: 8/29/2013

    The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities' stated purpose is to bring the Nome Airport into compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Regulations (14 CFR Part 139) adhering to a congressional mandate to improve runway (RW) safety areas. Neither the main or crosswind runways at the Nome airport meet current FAA design standards. Please note that Nome Joint Utility Service (NJUS) and Nome Gold Alaska Corporation have projects adjacent to and within this project area. Applications for their proposed projects are being submitted separately and are not considered a part of this PN.
