    Mr. Stephen Weatherman, with the City and Borough of Sitka, states that the project purpose is to provide for continued disposal of bio-solids authorized under State of Alaska Permit SW3A047-21. The existing bio-solids receiving cell in Sitka is full. The proposed construction is required for continued operation of the Sitka Bio-Solid Landfill. Work being proposed includes expand the existing bio-solids landfill in Sitka, Alaska by expanding the landfill and constructing new containment berms. Specifically the work includes the placement of 14,700 cubic yards of classified type II rock and gravel fill material into 1.21 acres of wetlands to construct the containment berm. Overall the proposed project would result in the placement of fill material into 2.16 acres of wetlands.   • POA-2017-00468, Tongass Narrows

    Expiration date: 8/12/2019

    The, Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF), states that the project purpose is to construct a new lay-up dock for the Ketchikan Airport ferry system. Work being proposed regarding the new dock facility consists of placing a 250-foot long x 85-foot wide floating steel or concrete dock, placement of two four-pile side restraint dolphins (driving four 36-inch piles and four 30-inch piles), placement of three four-pile side and mid restraint dolphins (16 36-inch piles), construct a new 20-foot x 140-foot steel transfer bridge, construct a new concrete/pile supported bridge abutment (three 18-inch piles), removal and replacement of the existing rock slope. The proposed abutment and work on the rock slope would require discharge of approximately 1,600 cubic yards of fill material into 0.15-acre of marine waters. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-11), dated June 2019.     The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF), states that the project purpose is to demolish and rebuild a heavy freight mooring facility. Work being proposed consists of widening and re-grading the existing ramp, constructing a new four pile breasting dolphin and a new three pile tire fender dolphin. A mooring ramp and armor rock embankment would also be built by discharging approximately 1,900 cubic yards of fill material below the high tide line of Tongass Narrows into 0.5-acre marine waters. A total of (12), 20-inch diameter, six 24-inch diameter, four 30-inch diameter piles will be permanent installed via hammer or vibratory pile driver. 12 temporary piles not to exceed 20-inch diameter will be installed and removed at project completion. All work would be performed in accordance with the enclosed plan (sheets 1-5), dated June 2019. This project is needed to improve safe transit through Tongass Narrows, provide safe harbor for large cruise ships, and relieve existing and future vessel, pedestrian, and vehicle congestion in the Port of Ketchikan and downtown Ketchikan. Work being proposed includes construction of a new 500-foot x 70-foot floating pontoon dock in Ward Cove with a trestle that includes a driving lane and walkway for easy access to shore.
